Heavy whipping cream can be high in calories and fat, but when paired correctly with other foods can be slimming and a great treat. It's not time to overindulge, but maybe it's time for a wee little treat!

Whipped Cream and Fruit Dessert
There are a few things quite as refreshing as a creamed dessert with fresh berries. It just lightens up my mood and feels quite rejuvenating. But it's easy to overdo this classic dessert. Don't forget a wee bit of moderation when consuming this sugar-free whipped cream recipe. The fats are delicious but also calorie-dense.
For those following the Trim Healthy Mama plan this whipped cream parfait needs to be paired with no more than ½ cup of blueberries to stay in S-mode (healthy fats).
You will be using a full 16-ounce carton of whipping cream. A 16-ounce carton has 32 servings. However, that is only 2 tablespoon of whipped cream. A serving according to the package would be about 53 calories. Although we do not count calories on THM, it sometimes can be a helpful gauge to know how dense the dessert is. I would recommend that a small cup is a safe amount to stay in a reasonable size. Use your best judgment for a serving size.
How do you make whipped cream from scratch?
Making whipped cream from scratch couldn't be easier! All you need is a cream base and a little bit of sugar! Whip until a soft peak forms and then enjoy!
However, if you are wanting to make a sugar-free alternative, there are a couple of other steps that need to be considered.
How do you make Sugar Free Whipped Cream from Scratch?
Doing a sugar-free whipped cream recipe is going to take a few more steps to get it just right. My favorite botanical sweetener to use is stevia from Trim Healthy Mama. I have also used monk fruit, but I have not liked the consistency and I never then felt like the graduals have dissolved all the way.
Gentle sweet is the way to go, but you also might want to consider blending the gentle sweet with a coffee grinder to make the gentle sweet even easier to dissolve in the whipped cream parfait.
Gentle Sweet can be used in some delicious desserts including this no-bake cookie recipe! Or these sugar-free and soft chocolate chip cookies.
Can I use Almond Milk instead of Whipping Cream?
If you are going to want a dairy-free version of this recipe, I don't recommend almond milk. It needs the thickening power of heavy cream. Just don't do it, I've tried it and I've tried lots of recipes on the web for almond milk whipped cream. Some of them are okay, but none of them are what I would consider good. If you need something sugar-free and dairy-free, check out this recipe by the Sugar-Free Mom. She uses canned coconut cream that has guar gum in it. It is a great recipe that is tried and true.
