An Ashwaghanda Drink
After smelling ashwagandha powder, making an ashwagandha drink might be a little intimidating. Don't let the smell turn you off! The benefits of the drink far outweigh the potent smell! Not to mention, if you pair ingredients correctly, you will get a nice warming drink that could even replace coffee if you have a mind to!
The Benefits of Ashwaghanda
Why start taking ashwagandha? This adaptogenic herb is known to profoundly benefit your body by alleviating depression, anxiety, and stress. Its power is in its ability to soothe the nervous system.
One fascinating double-blind study concluded this about the effectiveness of Ashwagandha root.
The findings of this study suggest that a high-concentration full-spectrum Ashwagandha root extract safely and effectively improves an individual's resistance towards stress and thereby improves self-assessed quality of life.

What does Ashwaghanda Taste Like?
Have you ever tasted ashwagandha? What would you describe its taste as? It's very bitter, earthy, and I've heard it described as tasting like dirt! Yikes! Can you really make it taste good! Yes! There are many other powder mixtures that can be difficult to strike a good balance of taste with. Maca powder is one that comes to mind right away. Yet if you have a good recipe, have an open mind, and remember the benefits, it can start to become a favorite drink!
Tips and Tricks for this Recipe
There is really only one main trick that you need to keep in mind for this recipe and it's to stir in the whey protein slowly!
I made the mistake the first time I made this recipe of dumping the whey protein into the hot liquid. Those that have worked with high-quality protein know what happened! It turned into nasty and quite unsatisfying hard chunks! Nobody wants that!
Sprinkle your whey protein on the top and then use a frother to stir it into the liquid.
Ingredients for the Latte'
My favorite type of ashwagandha powder is from Terrasoul, but there are many other good brands that you can buy from. The ingredients for this ashwagandha drink latte are pretty straightforward!
1 ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
1 tablespoon whey protein
1 teaspoon MCT oil
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
¼ teaspoon ashwagandha powder
¼ teaspoon cinnamon (more for topping if desired)
Other Ashwghanda Recipes
Because of how many benefits ashwagandha offers, I have become a bit of an Ashwagandha snob when it comes to recipes! I love playing around with flavor combinations, especially in drinks! If you would like to experiment with more ashwagandha recipes, check these out from Healing Home:
