Is Pumpkin Spice Healthy?
Not everyone has to enjoy pumpkin spice during the fall season, but why wouldn't you!? It is just a delightful treat and I can't help but indulge.
Pumpkin spice actually has some surprising health benefits. The spice is typically a combination of cinnamon, cloves, ginger, allspice, and nutmeg. Many of these plants can boast of inflammatory properties, help the brain function, and keep infections at bay!
One of the star ingredients of healthy pumpkin spice is cinnamon, and coincidentally cinnamon can be known to lower blood sugar, which on a Trim Healthy Mama or Keto lifestyle, could be very helpful to add into your routine!
Is Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte healthy?
However, the only problem is that the typical spice latte' picked up from a local coffee shop is stocked full of ingredients that make my toes curl. You might even see my eye start twitching every single time I look at one. They are so good, and yet so naughty.
The major culprit of a pumpkin spice latte' is the sugar content. It comes as no surprise that the famous pumpkin spice latte' from most coffee chains comes with over 50 grams of sugar content. Eekk! That is double what the AHA recommends per day for women!
What is Pumpkin Spice Good For?
During the fall season, pumpkin spice is great for recipes like pies, drinks, and desserts. And if we take out the high amounts of sugar, there can be a fair amount of health benefits that healthy pumpkin spice can aid in.
