A goat cheese appetizer is one of those rare treats that typically are easy to throw together and everyone thinks you've just crafted a high-class appetizer.
What could be better?
Benefits of Goat Cheese
Learning about the benefits of goat cheese far exceeded anything that I anticipated when I began my research. If you struggle with a dairy intolerance or even just want to practice staying away from ungodly amounts of dairy fats, then I have good news for you.
Goat cheese is considerably more nutrient-dense than any typical cow dairy product.
Goat cheese still has fatty acids, but those acids metabolize faster than cow dairy, which leads to a fuller feeling faster. The benefits don't just end there. Because A2 beta-casein, allows the cheese to digest faster and easier than cow cheese.
Perhaps the most intriguing benefit is how filled with healthy probiotics goat cheese has. Goat cheese can boost your immune system and fight illness because of its immense probiotic properties.
What goes with Goat Cheese?
Never would I have imagined pecans going with goat cheese. I always think of any creamy or cheesy product going well with crackers and that's just about it.
Yet goat cheese can be a versatile ingredient that goes well with many other foods. Here are just a few.
- Use it in place of cream cheese!
- Spread on sprouted or sourdough toast!
- Top salads with crumbled goat cheese.
- Replace dairy cheese with goat cheese in your lasagna.
- Make a pesto sauce with it.
- Create a vegetable dip.
- Serve plain and just enjoy!
What Kind of Cracker goes with Goat Cheese?
If you are following the Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle, there certainly are some crackers that you can enjoy on the plan. Here are a few of my favorites.
- Shameless Crackers (S or FP)
- Finn Crisp Crackers (E)
- Ryvita Crackers (FP)
- Wasa Light Rye (FP)
- Wasa MultiGrain (E)
- Wasa Whole Grain (E)
Of course, if you are not following the Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle, there are plenty more options out there. However, if you are even trying to follow a more health-conscious lifestyle, you will find that these crackers are more pure and healthy than most of the crackers you find in your everyday grocery aisles.
