I don't know about you, but the holidays is when I whip out these type of hot dips! We love appetizer meals during the holidays and this one is a keeper. Filled with spices, and comforting dairy, it will surely make your home smell cozy and amazing.
We made this for dinner recently, I know, I know, not the best dinner to feed a family of 5 with 3 boys five and under, but we are getting over pink eye and colds and Mama just didn't have much left in her! Grace is due sometimes.
Anyway, we made it for dinner, and the entire dish was gone by the end of the night. Granted it was the only thing I served, but the point was, that my three little boys snarfed it up like it was holiday candy! When three little boys snarf something down, it's a winner.
So make up this dish for a fun 'after sickness' meal, take it to a holiday party, or just enjoy it any time of the year!

Instructions
This is a layered dish, which means you do not need to mix it up! A nice and easy artichoke dip.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Layer drained artichokes on the bottom of a 9x11-inch baking dish.
Layer thinly chopped onions on top of the artichokes.
Mix mayonnaise, sour cream, parmesan, dill weed, and garlic powder.
Spoon the mixture onto the top of the onions and artichokes. Spread out evenly.
Top with shredded cheese. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown on the top.
You can also broil for the last 3-5 minutes (depending on your stove). This gives it a nice browned look on top.
Hint: This is an easy recipe to adjust to your liking. There are many additions that you can layer in addition to the base recipe. See the variation section below for ideas.
Variations
You can certainly make this recipe your own with many different additions. Consider the recipe the 'base' recipe and then add variations to your liking. Here are a few things that I add depending on what I have on hand.
- Frozen spinach - Add this after your artichoke and onion layer
- Cream Cheese - Reduce the sour cream and mayonnaise and add a full block of softened cream cheese. It's truly delectable!
- Seasonings - black pepper, salt (we LOVE Redmond Real Salt),
Another fun hot dip recipe is this cauliflower hot cheese dip. It is similar to a buffalo cheese dip and I always make it during the holidays!

Equipment
There's not a lot of equipment needed to make this easy artichoke dip. I love the baking dish that is pictured, however, Target no longer sells it. A very similar one by Hand & Hearth is currently available.
Here is some of the basic equipment you will need.
- Baking dish
- Mixing bowl
- Mixing spoon
Storage
This will store well in the refrigerator for up to one week in an air-tight container. You can reheat it in the microwave or the oven.
FAQ
What do you serve with artichoke dip?
- Tortilla chips.
- Sourdough bread bowl ➡️ learn more about sourdough here.
- Crackers (Wasa crackers work great for Trim Healthy Mama)
- Potatoes
- Tortillas
Please note that not all of these work well with Trim Healthy Mama or the keto diet.
Why is my artichoke dip watery?
If you find that your dip is watery it typically has to do with the type of canned artichokes you have used. Make sure to drain the artichokes completely. You may even want to press them on a paper towel. You could also consider buying artichokes in an oil base. You will still need to drain the oil before using.
