How can you use these easy low-carb meatballs? In so many ways! We actually just used them for a post-Christmas family celebration. In fact, my mother shot me a message afterward to tell me how good they were.
Now, if my mom says they are good, you know something up!
The problem with a lot of meatballs is that they are high in both carbs and fats. We know in the Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle can lead to unwanted weight gain, and difficulty losing weight. However, there are some healthy carbs that we can pair with meatballs to still make them scrumptious and delicious.
These low-carb meatballs will have only 1 net carb per serving! You will have to estimate a serving a little bit depending on how large you make your meatballs.
Ingredients
Most of these ingredients you most likely will have on-hand! If you have THM Baking Blend you can substitute Baking Blend for the Almond flour.
Ground beef
Onion
Garlic
Shredded cheese
Almond flour
Eggs
Instructions
I will admit that the most time-consuming part of this recipe is rolling the meatballs. It certainly is not my favorite part, but if you need to, stick to the Trim Healthy Mama podcast, and just keep rolling!
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Chop the onion and garlic into small bits
Add all the ingredients into a large glass bowl and mix by hand.
Roll meat into small balls (1 - 1 ½ inches) and place onto a baking sheet.
Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
Remove meatballs from the sheet and use the meatballs in your favorite recipes!
FAQ
Can I use almond flour instead of breadcrumbs in meatballs?
If you are trying to make a 'normal' recipe into a keto or Trim Healthy Mama-approved recipe, then replacing the Breadcrumbs with almond flour may just work. You may have to play around with the amounts because breadcrumbs and almond flour are completely different.
Is almond flour keto approved?
Yes, almond flour can be used both with THM and the Keto plans. However, on Trim Healthy Mama we try to note that almond flour is very calorie-dense. So although it can be used, remember that it can make recipes into heavy S's quite fast.
What goes with meatballs besides spaghetti?
One of my favorite ways to eat meatballs on the THM plan is to grab my favorite konjac noodles, which can be used on THM or keto lifestyles.
